School holiday workshops at the Museum of Sydney

These school holidays, join Gumbaynggirr textile artist Sancia Ridgeway for two hands-on workshops inspired by Seeing Sydney, Knowing Country, a new exhibition exploring the deep connections between landscape, history, and First Nations knowledge.

Weaving the Colours of Country
Using photographs of beaches, bushlands, or parks as inspiration, Sancia will guide you in creating a woven piece reflecting the colours of Country. Your artwork will be added to a communal display at the museum.

Spinning Threads of Knowledge
Learn traditional yarn-spinning techniques and discover how First Nations people use yarn for fishing, rope-making, and storytelling. Your spun yarn will be part of a collaborative artwork inspired by songlines—pathways of knowledge connecting land and sky.

Join Sancia for fun and informative workshops where you will learn about the importance of these knowledge systems while getting creative and having fun.
