FREE SCHOOL HOLIDAY EVENT: ‘Festival of Democracy 2025’ at NSW Parliament

When: Tuesday 15 April, 9:30am – 3:00pm
Where: NSW Parliament House, 6 Macquarie St, Sydney
This jam-packed day of discovery, learning, and hands-on activities will bring civics, citizenship and the history of Australia’s first and oldest legislature to life for five to 12 year olds and their parents/carers:
– Step inside history with guided chamber tours
– Get creative in arts and crafts workshops
– Go behind the scenes with special video screenings and learn about – how laws are made
– Travel through time with historical character actors and storytelling
– Take to the floor in a mock committee hearing
– Learn about voting with the NSW Electoral Commission
– Engage with the role of Legal Aid in assisting NSW citizens.

Keep the fun going with Macquarie Street Adventure!
Before or after your visit to the Parliament of NSW, enjoy more free, family activities from our partners along Macquarie St at the State Library NSW and Museums of History NSW.
Children will receive a passport when arriving at their first location. At each location, kids get a stamp in their adventure passport. Collect all three, and they’ll get a prize – it’s a great way to make history fun!
