One of our favourite gardens right in the heart of the city, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is a perfect spot for a family-friendly adventure. Located on the edge of Sydney Harbour, these beautiful gardens offer the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, with open green spaces, and an impressive collection of plants to explore.

The Royal Botanic Garden isn’t just a place to admire beautiful plants—it’s packed with activities to engage little explorers! The gardens feature themed plant areas, hidden pathways, and interactive experiences. We had a great time pointing out all he different flowers and animals we spotted along the walk through the Alchemy of a Rainforest walk.

For something more hands-on for the kids, check out the Children’s Nature Trail or join one of the seasonal school holiday programs filled with science, gardening, and creative workshops. The gardens also host Aboriginal Cultural Tours, where kids can learn about native plants, bush foods, and the rich First Nations history of the land.


Spanning over 30 hectares, the gardens offer plenty of space for the kids to run, play, and discover. You might like to enjoy a peaceful picnic on the lush lawns or take in the iconic views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge! It’s the perfect setting for a day out in central Sydney with family.
