You can try social cricket at one of two programs in Western Sydney:
- Come & Try – Try social cricket – play like you do in the backyard with short 60–90-minute matches, small teams, and no helmet or pads required.
- Colour Bash – Action packed day with water balloons, a colour run, alongside short social cricket games. Spend time with friends & learn new skills!

POWERHOUSE MUSEUM SUMMER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Powerhouse Summer School Holidays program runs from 21 December 2024 – 30 January 2025. It provides a range of in-depth workshops including popular gaming, coding, Minecraft and family workshops.
Families are invited to adventure through exhibitions at Powerhouse Castle Hill to discover the stories and histories of objects on display. Powerhouse Castle Hill is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am–4pm.

Do summer differently at Cockatoo Island
Discover a different side of Sydney this summer… Escape to Cockatoo Island with your kids!
Located in the heart of Sydney Harbour, the island is a source of adventure and relaxation owing to its eye-catching landmarks, tours, waterfront campground, cafes, views and sprawling picnic spots.
Cocaktoo Island is a short (and very scenic) ferry ride from Barangaroo, Circular Quay and wharves along Parramatta River. Plus, there’s no admission fee. That’s right – it’s FREE to explore.
Throughout the school holidays, you can enjoy a range of great activities. These include:
- Family-friendly tours: Led by knowledgeable guides, tours run on weekends plus select weekdays. Options include the Convict Prison Tour, Island Highlights Tour, Dark Past Tour and Shipyard Tales Tour. Adults are $26 and kids are $16.
- Live Music: Cockatoo island’s popular live music series has returned! Sunset Sessions runs Saturday afternoons until 5 April. For $35, parents can enjoy performances by talented musicians in an outdoor, picnic-style venue with harbour views. Best of all? Kids 12 and under are FREE!
- Steam crane demo: Want to time travel to the era when steam power ruled? Visit between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm on Tuesday 4 February to see one of the island’s historic ‘Iron Giants’ in action! Steam and spectacle – plus some toots and whistles – guaranteed!
- Special storytime event: Love a good yarn? On Friday 17 January, Dr Sarah Luke will read from (and sign copies of) Marion and the Forty Thieves – her exciting new historic novel, partially set on Cockatoo Island. This event also includes a creative writing workshop for kids. $10 per person.
