Surfing mecca is now open in Western Sydney

URBNSURF is NOW OPEN! In a city where golden beaches have long been the domain of coastal dwellers, a groundbreaking development is set to make waves in Western Sydney. URBNSURF, the brainchild of CEO Damon Tudor, is transforming the heart of Olympic Park into a surfing mecca. Surprisingly, it’s not by the beach; it’s almost 20 kilometers inland. But that’s not stopping this visionary project from creating a tsunami of excitement among surfers and enthusiasts alike.

A Surfer’s Paradise Inland

URBNSURF will become New South Wales’ first wave-generated park, offering an unprecedented experience to over 1000 surfers daily in a colossal man-made lagoon. At nearly two hectares in size, which is roughly equivalent to a cricket ground, this wave park promises an adrenaline-pumping adventure that’s worth the trek from the coast.

More Than Just Waves

However, URBNSURF isn’t just about catching waves. It’s an all-encompassing destination designed to cater to every facet of your surfside desires. A terrace restaurant and bar, perfect for a classy meal with a view, complement a more laid-back kiosk downstairs. The main building boasts a health and wellness center, ensuring that surfers can stay in peak condition.

Additionally, guests can relax in pools surrounding the main wave pool or revel in the sprawling outdoor space, accommodating more than 2000 people for live music and sporting events. The panoramic view is bound to be breathtaking, with waves breaking left and right. URBNSURF is more than just a wave park; it’s a full-fledged experience. It features a surf academy, versatile multi-function spaces, cabanas, and even a kids’ playground to cater to every member of the family.

Surf Legends and Beyond

Inspired by Melbourne’s URBNSURF, located next to Tullamarine Airport and frequented by surfing legends like Kelly Slater, Layne Beachley, and Mick Fanning, this new park in Western Sydney promises to be the next big thing. Construction, underway since 2021, hit a few snags due to last year’s rain and supply chain issues but is now back on track and gaining momentum.

The Heart of the Wave: Wavegarden Technology

In addition, a pivotal piece of the puzzle has just arrived from Spain: the wave generator. Installation, an intricate process akin to assembling a giant meccano set that creates waves, is set to take three months. Using Wavegarden technology, which is also employed in URBNSURF Melbourne, this park aims to replicate ocean swell with astounding precision. From half-meter cruisers to two-meter-tall barrels, surfers of all skill levels will find their perfect wave here. With 16-second rides on the main wave and approximately 12 rides per hour, it’s a surfer’s dream come true.

Accessibility at Its Best

The mecca will be situated on what was once a car park and a fill site during the construction of the Olympic stadium, URBNSURF is well-connected to the future light rail network. The upcoming light rail, connecting Parramatta CBD to Olympic Park, will conveniently stop right outside URBNSURF’s doors. This strategic location ensures that the thrill of the surf is now more accessible than ever.

URBNSURF is not just a surf park; it’s a testament to innovation. As well as a gateway to endless adventure in the heart of Western Sydney. URBNSURF Sydney is set to become a destination that surfers and water enthusiasts won’t want to miss, when the waves roll in. Western Sydney is about to experience the magic of the ocean’s embrace, and URBNSURF is leading the way.
