Winter Sports World
Australia’s first ever indoor snow resort, Winter Sports World, is coming to Western Sydney in 2028 and we can’t wait! This project is the largest tourism project currently in Australia, costing $700 million.
The Winter Sports World will be located just 15km from the new Western Sydney International Airport and less than 60 minutes’ drive from Sydney CBD. This exciting new development is set to almost double Penrith’s visitation. It will give families an affordable opportunity to see snow if they haven’t before.
The new snow resort is set to feature:
- A 300m advanced open run for experienced skiers and snow boarders, learn to ski runs and a dedicated winter wonderland snow play area
- Competition venue for snow sports such as alpine skiing
- Ice climbing and crevasse outdoor rock climbing
- 4-star 200-room hotel, conference and function rooms
- Restaurant and cafes with snow views
There will be school and community group opportunities, and winter sports training making it the perfect spot for Western Sydney families.
Winter Sports World will have perfect chemical-free snow, perfect conditions and perfect -4 degrees C weather 365 days a year. It will be injecting more than $222 million a year into the local economy and $2.5 million injected during the first decade. The resort will also be providing 2,720 new jobs for local families.
The giant snow box will feature glowing kinetic “ice shards” over the façade, with “boulders” strewn on the ground around a broken, teetering landscape of “icefalls”.
Cultural elements will be designed by well-known Aboriginal artist and educator Jamie Eastwood (Mugudun) in collaboration with John Lock & Associates Landscape Architects that share Dreamtime stories about Dyarrubin (Hawkesbury Nepean River).
Construction is on track to begin this year and we can’t wait!
